Cerebos 80th Birthday Competition - Terms and Conditions
Organiser
This promotional competition (“Competition”) is organised and conducted by Cerebos Limited ("Cerebos") including its affiliates, agents, employees, contractors, service providers, suppliers, associated companies, partners, and any of their directors, officers, or employees. Any reference to "Cerebos" in these terms and conditions includes all of the aforementioned entities.
Eligibility to Enter
The Competition is open to South African residents aged eighteen (18) years or older, residing in South Africa, who are in possession of a valid South African identity document, passport, or other acceptable proof of residency, who have valid South African cell phone number for entry and verification purposes.
Persons Not Eligible to Enter
The following individuals are not eligible to enter or participate in the Competition and will be disqualified from receiving any prizes:
Any director, member, partner, employee, agent, merchandisers or consultant of Cerebos;
Any employee or representative of Cerebos’ advertising and promotional agencies, marketing service providers, suppliers, or distributors;
Any person who directly or indirectly controls, or is controlled by, any of the above entities;
The spouses, life partners, parents, children, brothers, sisters, business partners, associates or immediate family members of any of the above individuals;
Individuals who are not legal residents and/or legal citizens of the Republic of South Africa.
Competition Period
The Competition will run from 13June 2025 until 3rdJuly 2025. Entries submitted after the closing date will not be accepted or considered.
Participating Products
All original recipes made from Cerebos branded products qualify for entry into the Competition.
How to Enter
To enter, participants are required to:
Share their original recipes on any social media platform and tag us with the hashtags: GenerationsOfGoodness #CerebosTurns80 #MzansiFlava
Six entries with the most engagement (likes, shares and replies) will stand a chance to have their recipes added to the Cerebos eRecipes book to be made available on the Cerebos website.
Entry Conditions
Participants may enter the Competition multiple times, provided that each entry is a new original recipe. Each recipe will count as a single entry. Participants acknowledge and accept that entry does not guarantee winning a prize.
Participant Responsibility
It is the responsibility of each participant to ensure that all information submitted, including their personal details and images, are accurate, complete, original and up to date. The uploaded images must be clear and legible. Additionally, participants must comply with all verification checks and provide any requested documentation promptly to avoid disqualification.
Prizes
A total of four prizes will be awarded during the Competition.
Winner Selection
Winners will be selected based on engagement end of the month. (July 2025)
Finality of Decisions
Subject to the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act No. 68 of 2008 ("CPA"), all decisions made by Cerebos in relation to the Competition, including cash prize allocations and disqualifications, are final and binding. No further correspondence will be entertained regarding Cerebos’ decisions, which are conclusive.
Notification
Cerebos will make reasonable efforts to contact the selected winners once per day for a period of two (2) consecutive working days following the prize draw. Should a winner be unreachable for any reason, including but not limited to technical difficulties, or if their eligibility or personal details cannot be verified within this timeframe, the prize will be forfeited, and an alternative winner will be selected.
Verification
Winners will be verified using the social media account used to enter. As part of the verification process, each selected winner will be required to:
Provide a valid South African identity document or acceptable proof of identity;
Confirm that the social media account used to enter is registered in their name;
Comply with any additional verification checks reasonably required by Cerebos. Winners will have forty-eight (48) hours from the time of initial contact to complete the verification process. Failure to do so, or to provide correct and valid information, may result in disqualification and the selection of an alternative winner.
Disqualification
Cerebos reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to disqualify any participant or winner under the following circumstances:
If the winner cannot be contacted after two (2) consecutive working day attempts, or fails to submit required verification documents (such as ID) within forty-eight (48) hours of being notified;
If any form of fraud, attempted fraud, cheating, or manipulation of the entry process is suspected, including (but not limited to) falsifying recipes, using AI generated imagery, plagiarizing, or submitting entries via automated means such as bots, scripts, macros, commercial entry services, vote-swapping platforms, or other tools not authorised by Cerebos;
If the participant is found to have acted in bad faith or contrary to the spirit or intention of the Competition;
If any participant attempts to enter more than the permitted number of times through deceptive tactics.
All associated entries of a disqualified participant will be declared void.
Prize Payout
Once a winner has been successfully contacted and their details verified, the prize will be dispatched/handed over to them. Cerebos is not responsible for any delays caused by the delivery company. Prizes will only be delivered to the address provided by the winner.
Publicity
By entering this Competition, participants acknowledge and accept that, if selected as a winner, their name may be publicly announced by Cerebos. This includes publication on Cerebos’s website, social media platforms, newsletters and any other promotional channels.
With the winner’s consent, Cerebos may also use their full name, likeness, and/or image in promotional materials, both online and offline, including but not limited to social media posts, websites, print materials, and event promotions. This usage will be without any additional compensation to the winner.
Changes to the Competition Terms & Conditions
A copy of these terms and conditions will be available throughout the Competition period and can be requested directly from Cerebos.
Cerebos reserves the right, at its sole discretion, to modify, suspend, or terminate the Competition or any aspect thereof at any time and without prior notice, should unforeseen circumstances arise that are beyond its control. This includes the right to amend or cancel the prizes if deemed necessary.
Indemnity
By participating in the Competition, participants agree to indemnify and hold harmless Cerebos from any claims, damages, or losses arising from their participation in the Competition, except in cases of gross negligence or intentional misconduct by Cerebos. This indemnity does not affect any statutory rights related to the purchase of Cerebos products. Participants acknowledge that Cerebos shall not be held liable for any loss or damage, whether direct, indirect, consequential, or otherwise, resulting from their involvement in the Competition.
Liability Limitations
Cerebos will not be held responsible for incorrect, incomplete, or inaccurate entry information provided by participants, nor for technical errors, disruptions or issues beyond its control. This includes, but is not limited to, failures in the submission of entries, or entries that are lost, damaged, or delayed due to technical malfunctions. Cerebos will not be liable for any losses or damages incurred as a result of such technical issues or errors.
Promotional Material
All marketing, competition or promotional materials relating to this Competition forms part of these terms and conditions. Prize visuals on any marketing, competition and/or promotional materials are for illustrative purposes only.
Acceptance of Terms
By participating in this Competition, participants acknowledge and agree to abide by these terms and conditions. Their participation constitutes full acceptance of and commitment to comply with all the outlined terms.
Dispute Resolution
Should a dispute arise regarding the interpretation of these terms, Cerebos’s decision shall be final. No correspondence will be entered into.
CPA Compliance
These terms are subject to and will be interpreted to comply with the CPA. Where any clause conflicts with the CPA, the CPA will prevail.
POPIA Compliance
By entering the Competition, participants consent to the processing of their personal information by Cerebos for the purpose of administering the Competition. This includes the collection and storage of data, potentially outside of South Africa, provided that all necessary confidentiality and data protection measures are in place.
Any personal data submitted will be handled in compliance with the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), the Consumer Protection Act, and the Cerebos’ privacy policies. Participants may be contacted for marketing purposes, with the option to opt-out at any time.
Legal Jurisdiction
These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
